For guests looking to dine out locally there are a number of pubs within walking distance from The Stable Yard.
The Chequers Inn (www.chequerswootton.co.uk) is a quaint little pub set in the heart of the rural village of Wootton Bedforsdhire, with beautiful real log fires to sit by in the winter & well kept gardens to relax in in the summer. This 17th century coaching inn was refurbished in 2010 after being closed down for several months. The Chequers is a free-house offering a range of cask ales, a selection of new & old world wines & wonderful home cooked food.
The Legstraps (www.thelegstraps.co.uk) is located a little further on from The Chequers via a public footpath through open pasture land. Formerly called The Rose & Crown, the pub has always been known locally as The Legstraps or sometimes just “The Straps”. Farm workers tied string or leather straps around their trouser leg bottoms to stop pests climbing up their legs at harvest time. There used to be a rack to hang them up in the old public bar. The bar area offers a relaxed and stylish environment that can be used to enjoy your favorite tipple; whether it be cask ales, a glass of wine or maybe even a cocktail. The restaurant offers a contemporary menu using the freshest seasonal produce meaning guests can expect an exciting and constantly evolving menu.
St Helena Restaurant (www.sthelenarestaurant.com) located in the village of Elstow is a short cab ride from The Stable Yard. It offers a unique dining experience in an elegant, period country house, with conservatory, fine paintings and antiques. Ideal for that special occasion, business dinners or lunches, or just simply a night out. The Head Chef, Steve Barringer was a 2011 Professional Masterchef Finalist, and has created a tempting innovative menu ideal for any Masterchef fan to experience.
